Meet Katie

Hi! My name is Katie Downie and I’ve been in the forestry business for over a decade. Over the years I’ve held roles as a procurement forester, consulting utility forester, project manager and consulting forester.  I currently serve in various roles across professional organizations including the Society of American Foresters, Association of Consulting Foresters, Ohio Tree Farm System and the Ohio Forestry Association.

I am a Licensed Pesticide Applicator for the Ohio Department of Agriculture, a Technical Service Provider for the USDA NRCS EQIP program, and a certified Tree Farm Inspector.

I am also a part owner of Better Meadows and Woodlands which focuses on timber stand improvement, wildlife habitat improvement, tree planting and much more.

I have been married 15 years to the most patient man in the world. We have a spunky daughter who loves to Irish dance, play softball, create art, and learn about investing. I love solving problems, getting lost in the woods, gardening, and canning and preserving.

I always try to do the right thing, even if it means taking the harder route. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, to say yes first and figure it out later. I believe in taking personal responsibility for one’s thoughts and actions and always learn and do better. Have grace for yourself and others. Help others. Solve problems. Never give up.
